MASTERS HOCHBAU I ENTWURF with FG DE/CO

CITIZEN’S UNIVERSITY II

A Citizen’s Science Pavilion on the TU Campus

Teaching
Summer 20

As part of a joint funding application with the Bezirk Charlottenburg, in 2022 the TU will be realizing a 1000m2 pavilion on the campus to provide an impulse for visitors and to facilitate more interaction between the university and the city. The pavilion should become an innovative communication and exhibition space, that can provide space for an open trans-disciplinary dialogue between science, art and society as an embodiment of the principles of citizen science. In WiSe 19-20 a series of design studios from different disciplines produced the first ideas for the project, these included Architecture (NBL), Urbanism (Habitat Unit), Civil Engineering (Verbundstrukturen) and Landscape Architecture (Objektbau and Corporate Learning Architecture).

This semester we will begin the process of narrowing down our ideas to find a series of designs that we can develop in constructive and programmatic detail. Using the projects from last semester as a basis we will work as an interdisciplinary group to distill key themes and architectural motives, using these to sort the projects into thematic groups, that can serve as a basis for the detailed design process. The studio will be run as a collaboration between Natural Building Lab and FG DE/CO with a Landscape Architecture PIV offered by Simon Colwill from FG Objektbau. Furthermore we will continue to work closely with the Civil Engineers from FG Verbundstrukturen and Building Service Engineers from the Hermann Rietschel Institut.
